3 months down......

Ok, so it's really closer to four months, but when you're dealing with a newborn....blogging is not the top of priorities....By the way, this is Daniel, so feel free to keep reading. The wife is back at work full time now and really doing a great job. She's got an odd arrangement worked out, but it really helps us in the babysitting category. She works four days a week now, but those days are 10 hours!!! This gives her an extra day off, so the grandparents aren't always watching Oliver.....even though, I'm sure they'd gladly do so. It also gives me and Ollie some boy time when I get home....waiting for mama to get home....who am I kidding though, we usually just nap until she gets home. I think she finally trusts me with him, since she's left him with me while going out with the girls a few nights. She's on the planning committee for our 10 year high school reunion.....10 years!!!! She and some friends are really close to finalizing all the plans. I think the closed out the plans weeks ago, but she's using it as an excuse to go out with her friends...while Ollie and I sit here at home, alone. Not much new in my world....I'm just trying to learn how to be a dad, while getting ready for the new season at work. I just got back from Myrtle Beach with the guys. It was Shaun's bachelor party...and we did it right....I'll spare you the boring details, but we had a great time. It was awesome coming home to my new family though. ....let's see.....what else??? Oh yeah...we're in the process of finishing off the rest of our basement for mother-in-law. It's halfway done, and we're halfway moved in upstairs....really long story, but at the end of the day, my dad and I are finishing the job....basically because we can do it faster and better than the idiot contractor we hired. We hope to be settled in upstairs and mom-in-law in the basement by mid-April. That's about it.......oh yeah.....Ollie.....where to start??? At 3 months, Oliver weighed 10&1/2 pounds and measured 22" long. He's growing like a friggin' weed. We're literally watching a newborn baby turn into a little boy. He grunts and coos like a little boy. It seems like yesterday, we were wanting him to make noises and smile....now we have to pause the TV everytime he gets to talking....He's starting to recognize people....I can't describe the feeling I feel when I get home from work and he smiles ear-to-ear....He does the same thing for mama and his grandparents. He's really getting to know his sister (our dog, Georgia) too. A couple of days ago, Georgia did her normal greeting by licking his face off until he busted out into the cutest giggle I've ever heard.....Kelly and my jaws hit the floor....we looked at each other and busted into laughter....and Kelly cried too, of course. We both got to see his first laugh....it was so awesome!....come to find out later though, it was officially his second laugh....apparently, grandma made him laugh earlier in the day.....lucky grandma. He's perfected the whole rolling over thing and keeping his head up. He's always wanting to stand too....I think he knows how chubby his legs are and wants to get a head start on trimming them up. Ollie will be 4 months next week and Spring will be here soon....which can only mean one thing. Atlanta Braves baseball!!! We've already got our season opener tickets and are looking forward to taking Oliver to his first baseball game. It's been a wild, but fun ride so far.....here's to many, many more memories little guy! Mama and Daddy love you!.....and Georgia too :)
