Savannah Girls Trip
I am so unbelievably happy about this weekend. I can honestly say that it really couldn't have been any better. I am so glad that Laura had soo much fun too, seeing that this was her birthday party weekend. I am SURE it is a great way to remember her 30th birthday.
We left for Savannah on Friday pretty much as early as possible. We ended up getting into Savannah around 2pm where we promptly took down the top of the convertible at the first red light.... we finished putting it down at the next one.. haha. (btw, we borrowed Laura's moms mustang convertible) After we settled into the hotel by just dropping our bags off we ran down to the river to find some lunch and drinks and then went along the river into all the shops. We came acrossWaldo Wade who was advertising all the tours we could go on and we decided to take a ghost walking tour later that night. We stopped in Wet Willies which is a bar with all those smoothie dispensers on the wall with different alcoholic beverages in them and we got our drinks... TO GO.. Savannah doesn't have any open container laws so you can drink anywhere, which is AWESOME!!!
So Friday night we headed out on the ghost tour that left about 9.. While waiting for the tour to begin we were chatting with some girls who totally thought we were like 26!! YAY...The tour was given by a little middle aged woman named Janet, who I continued to call Gloria and something else but I cant remember. Janet began the tour by talking to us at the Square where we met.... at the conclusion of the her spiel she ran out of the group and straight towards us scaring the bejeezus out of us. No sooner did the tour take off did it begin to drizzle, followed by hard rain and a full out thunderstorm... To dodge the storm we hung out in a bar where we did shots and got a drink and then continued to another bar where the drinking continued... the storm didn't seem to be letting up so we cut our loses and left the tour... We did hear a few good stories and stop by the cemetery. At the cemetery, I was trying to take a picture and my phone cut off.... creepy!! But not as creepy as on our way to the tour we were passing several other ghost tours going on and I saw in one of the windows someone had put a ghost statue looking out... I thought it was funny and tried to take a picture........ this is what came out.

Saturday was a blast.... we began the day with a ride to Forsyth Park to look for THE bench from Forrest Gump... we didn't find it but we did have a blast walking around. I wish we had a park like that close to our house. They had a Farmers Market going on, joggers everywhere, a beautiful fountain where a wedding was being held and even had Zumba outside a little cafe. I could do without the vast amount of homeless that we saw there. After that we kind of just layed low taking a trip to Publix, walking around the cemetery and I think we even had a nap! We started off our late afternoon with some drinks at Abe's on Lincoln where we hung out with locals and drafted a scavenger hunt for the night ahead...... and then got ready for our night out..... It was fun getting ready with the music on, drinking a bottle of Arbor Mist (I went old school) and Daq Paqs!
Saturday night began with dinner at Wild Wing which was in the very hip City Market area which i wish we knew was there earlier.. there was live music outside and just a fun vibe.... our first impression was a seeing a guy with a huge yellow snake around his neck... dinner was fun and thirst quenching as we were only served the shots we ordered as beverages. After Wild Wing we headed down to the river to find karaoke and a place to hang out.... probably about five minutes later we were taking a shot to prepare for my rendition of Coolio's Gangsters Paradise... haha.... and it was a hit, especially with the gangster crowd that was lounging next to the stage... they asked to come hang out with us and complemented me... We met some other people here, an army guy and Tami's friend who was in town for a bachelor party. Tami and Laura sang a Salt and Pepper song... sorry, I mean "Laten" and "Andy"... (I still cant keep up with my fake name of "Ell")... Ain't none of your business.. i still need to look it up cause i couldn't recognize it.... because they were THAT GOOD... of course. :) We partied pretty hard here, at Peg Leg Pete's so the rest of the night I recall as bits and pieces and by the aid of photos and drunk texts. lol...
From there we tried to go to Savannah Smiles, a dueling piano bar that if I was with Daniel I would have paid the $10 cover... but instead we went into the dance clubs where we.... danced like crazy.. even literally lighting up the dance floor on stage where the pole was... yes, 3 mommies out pole dancing! lol... I am sure we thought we looked more graceful and hot than we did, I'm speaking about myself here. At this place we saw what we thought was one of the locals from Abe so we were waving and saying hey, to which he looked at us a little scared... it wasn't him.. Tami said we should have known it wasn't him cause he was clean and with clean people... I just told you a big clue of what you ll get at Abe's.. the next place we went to I had to take a break cause i was getting pretty drunk.. I sat outside while Laura and Tami danced. After here we headed back to City Market and partied over there... I think? This actually may have been our 3rd time at the City Market area... I'm not sure. Things were beginning to shut down so we started to head back to the hotel where after harassing the hot dog guy for working with "wieners" we literally ran into an old friend of mine Brandon and his friend.. we got pizza and caught up... Laura was hilarious and pulling out some old info about Brandon.. lol After pizza we got Brandon and his friend to walk us back... it was now about 4am and our hotel was pretty far away. We got back to the hotel and decided to go planking on the canon we saw across the street.. I am guessing all the bruises on my body were from this. We then had one last visit to the river and finally went back to the hotel.
WHAT AN AWESOME NIGHT!!!
The next day though.. lol.. Laura was very hung over, we all had issues and I think we were still drunk at breakfast. Tami and I took a walk to the river for souvenirs and then tried to go to CVS to get Laura some medicine but the place was oddly closed (lol)... we hung out for awhile eating continental breakfast to soak up the acholol and then packed up. I drove us home cause Laura was sick and the entire ride was a giggle to all the shenagins we got into the night before.... And about 4 hours later... we were home.. transforming back into mommy mode but very different from when we left.
This trip was a blast, completely unforgettable! Typical of Laura, Tami and I... we definitely still got it. I am so happy my best friend had a good birthday celebration not only cause I love her to death but because I am turning 30 in 9 months!

2012 is the jam!!
This blog title was the first thing that popped into my head.. so I went with it. I am enjoying the heck out of 2012 and here is why:
Fun - We have been doing so many fun things lately that sometimes I look at my couch as I walk by and miss sitting in it... even when we are not doing something big... the little things I am doing have been a blast! I have been in a real positive upbeat mood and I can definitely tell that is affecting everything I do for the better.
Daniel's new job - That's right... Daniel has accepted a position as Assistant Project Manager for Vankirk Electric.. yep, we are part of the Vankirk Family now... he will be learning the ropes and assisting his boss and also training to be a project manager so that the current one can move more into sales and find new clients. Daniel started part time last week while he works out his notice at the golf course. As sad as I am (and Oliver is) that he is leaving the golf world behind, this is an amazing oppurtunity for him as well as our family. Words cannot express how PROUD I am of him.. He is a wonderfully talented businessman and such a grown up now!! haha... I definitely did not expect this out of the party guy I met nearly 10 years ago.
Things Oliver says - This is probably one of the biggest reasons a smile has been on my face lately.. This kid is FLAT out funny and I try SO hard to keep up with things he says but i cannot.
Girls' weekend in Savannah - YAY!! This weekend, Tami, Laura and I will be heading back down I - 16 ready for a weekend of partying just like we did so oftern back in.... 2001!!! I am so excited to spend a weekend with these girls and celebrate my best friends 30th birthday. :)
Trip to New Orleans - Next month we are heading to N.O for Shaun's 30th birthday trip and I am looking forward to touring, hanging out, drinking and eating with the other Smiths, Pauly and Vonee... Vegas was a blast with Paul and Vonee so I can only expect the best from this weekend.
Braves Game, Dirty Girl Run, Country Mega Ticket, Vegas Reunion, Family Beach Vacation - These are some other plans that we have for the spring summer season... Taking Oliver to Gwinnett Braves Games last year was fun but now he is an actual kid and I know he will enjoy them even more... then we have our 3rd or 4th annual opening day party where we tailgate and watch the game in our reserved section for about 100 of our closest friends.. The dirty girl run is going to be AMAZING.. its a 5k obstacle course run completely through mud and dirt!! I am so excited for this to be Laura's first 5k and am looking forward to my first mud run... Training starts tonight and I cannot wait to pick out our outfits!.. Country Mega Tickets is a summer concert series that includes Luke Bryan (my crush), Jason Aldean, Rascal Flatts, Miranda Lambert, Brad Paisley, Toby Keith and more.. First up is Luke Bryan and Jason Aldean on May 19th.... Vegas Reunion - way over due- is happening May 12th.. we are going to go to Dahlonega for wine tastings, shopping, bars and golf... It is going to be Daniel, Me, Vonee, Paul, Robert and Kimberly.. not sure about ben.. and anyone else is welcome.... in August we are looking at taking a trip to the beach near St. Augustine for some Smith Family Fun with the whole group.. heading to St.Augustine is perfect for me cause then we can plan a reunion with Lauren and Gil and their kiddos (Lauren and Gil are friends we met in Italy on our honeymoon)....
So 2012 is starting off perfect!! I know this blog is super cheesy and trust me my life isnt perfect but I have become someone that is focusing on all the good instead of all the bad... I think it has actually changed who I am.
