had a good shoot with Oliver this am.... he got to do a cake smash on set! Now I'm hoping not to crash while I'm at work since I'm running on 2hrs sleep!
Really?.. Note: it's a long post
So Oliver's modeling had slowed down quite a bit.... pretty much to a stop except for the products being released. He was invited to December's casting where he was a little grouchy... And then for the next one, February, I kind of invited oursleves and then Oliver got sick in the car on the way so we went back home. I had mentally prepared myself that our journey in the bright lights (and bright starts) was over.... and I was fine with it.
Until Monday, I heard my phone ringing but didnt rush to it. I was making dinner and hanging with my boys and figured the world could wait. When I checked my missed call, I saw it was his agent (she doesnt have her own agengcy, she just books babies and keeps them happy on set, I pay her a comission so to me, she's an agent).... I thought this was strange cause we have only talked on the phone once since last May and that was when I called to introduce myself after she met Oliver and Gigi. I figured for sure she butt dialed me or meant to call a different Kelly...
Then I heard the voicemail alert.. Listened to the message and immediately made arrangements for me to miss work Wednesday morning... Oliver was going back to work!! This particular "gig".... Daniel thinks it's hialrious when I pretend I'm in the biz and use words like gig..... was for a video shoot. I didnt get many details so I was extremely excited about this morning.
We went to the corporate headquarters for the brand that Oliver mostly models for. I had never been there before, so I knew it would be an early start to try to find my way and beat traffic. Unfortunately, my overachiever ways got the best of me yesterday and left me all riled up and full of energy until 5 - freaking - a.m. this morning. I planned to take an hour cat nap and be up and at 'em.... well at 7am I jumped out of bed and rushed around and out the door, Oliver still in his pajamas. Got on the road and made it to Alpharetta with 5 mins to spare!
There was one other boy at the shoot today.. George who is 11 months old and a first timer.. The video shoot was neat. There is a nationwide store called "Buy, Buy, Baby".. pretty similar to BabiesR'us.... they are going to feature a demo video in the aisle about a highchair.. the highchair is pretty awesome!! it swivels so that mom's (and dad's) can do it one handed.. So the video was demo-ing how that is done. Oliver is also featured on the box for this highchair with "his mommy", Paige, who I love.. she was the mommy again today.
Oliver did great, although I didn't really get to see much live since every time he saw me he cried... I did however video and take pictures by sticking my hand around the corner where I was hiding. They even did a cake smash which I thought Oliver had won the lottery in baby world for landing that. I told the photographers and project managers all about how awesome he did with his cake at his birthday that I might have built him up a little too much.... He of course made me look like a liar and just dabbled in a little bit of frosting.. thanks son!
So we wrapped up and headed home. I figured this might be the last of the modeling for awhile since he isn't 100% percent good with the sitting still and looking here aspect of modeling... once he was mobile and now that he has mastered walking, I haven't seen much besides a blur of him whizzing past me lately. So we had fun today.. earned some more cash for his bank account and it was a couple of more QT hours I got with him... and a ton of laughs!
My mom and I were just on the phone.. I am at work and she is telling me about the bills and junk mail I received today and tells me about some pictures that came in the mail from an agency.. I COMPLETELY forgot that a few weeks ago, I sent some pictures to a local and highly recognized agency... the website has a little disclaimer that says they receive dozens of entries day so they will review photos and send them back, with or without an invite to meet a rep... so i told my mom to open it, certain that it said no... Oliver is the cutest thing to me but all babies are cute...
Well we got an invite to meet a rep!! you've got to be kidding me!! This doesn't mean that we have been chosen to be represented but still... this letter means that these professionals who have personally founded tons of famous or recognizable babies, toddlers, kids, teens and adults... think my little Ollie - Kabollie has a look that is highly marketable!!
I wonder how the mom of Justin Bieber or the E-trade baby must feel?.. cause I am on cloud 11 right now. I could go meet this rep and she/he can tell me that they are no longer interested and I would still be this excited!! This wasn't part of my wildest dreams that I would be doing with my 15 month old son.. crazy... just crazy...
I also wonder what Daniel thinks of all this... Oliver looks EXACTLY like Daniel... I hope this doesn't feed into any mid life crisis Daniel might stumble upon years from now and Daniel realize he has a highly marketable look... haha. I'm pretty confident he wont... He doesn't seem fazed by any of this.. His biggest concern with Oliver is trying to get Oliver's beloved golf club out of his hand and insert a bat or a football... oh and he mentioned that Oliver needs the March issue of the Sports Illustrated (not the swim suit one) cause some Braves players are on it.
Note to future Oliver - you better treasure that magazine or daddy will be angry!

Father Daughter Dance
My dad has been on my mind quite a bit this week. At the beginning of the week I thought it was because of Valentine's Day. He ALWAYS got me flowers or candy or did something special for me. I also thought about him a lot cause I was wondering how my mom now feels about Valentine's Day. I know their last Valentine's Day was spent on their way home from visiting the Mayo Clinic in Florida.. I think they ate at a Chickfila and took a walk but they were so much in love... I imagine it was the best Valentine's Day ever.
My mom has been talking about my dad some lately. It's not like we don't talk about him ever but I guess I just realize those conversations more than normal talk. She was telling me about dreaming about him and in her dreams he is always leaving her. (Before I go on just know that my mom and I have very imaginative and maybe childlike views of heaven) She mentioned about him maybe hanging out with his ex or like dating other girls and that's why he kept leaving her in the dream. I didn't feel that way at all... I think he kept leaving her cause they cant be together again just yet cause it isn't her time to pass on. I don't at all wish my mom to die young or soon or anything, but some days I actually look forward to that day so she can go be with my dad. I know that sounds insane but they just complete each other and I look forward to her reuniting with her other half. I hope that doesn't come off bad. On Wednesday, my mom and Oliver went to the cemetery to see my dads grave. We don't go there very often because we believe he isn't there. But she was in the area so they stopped by. It was amazing what my mom was telling me about being there. She said that Oliver played with his flowers and a little motorcycle thing we have there. He was repeating my mom and saying John (my dad's name, it's easier than Grandpa) and the best thing she said was he leaned his head on the grave. He doesn't normally ever lean his head on anything like how she described. He does lean his head on shoulders like when he gives a hug or is tired but never on objects or tables. This is incredibly heart warming to me, as well as makes me cry like a baby... but how amazing. I know he doesn't know what is going on but I wonder if he might feel the same comfort and a sense of love that I have always felt is with me since my dad passed away.
Which brings us to today.. Today at work I put on an annual Father Daughter Dance. We of course do it up real big and it is precious. We have done it for years in February now and every year I dread this event. I remember in 2008, just 5 months after my dad passed I couldn't believe my boss made me work this particular event. It was awful, I was on the verge of tears the entire night. In 2009, I was nervous the whole week of the event but was proud that I was getting through it. In 2010, I did pretty well but still had a hard time. I was a new parent and had just realized the amount of love a parent has for a child and related it to me and my dad. Now in 2011... I have been so busy prepping for the event as I am now the head point person for this since I have been promoted that I didn't even realize how much this was on the back of my mind. I finally realized and have been chocking back tears all morning. 12 hours til its over and then I cannot wait to spend the weekend with my boys and my mom and of course with that comfort and love that my dad still shows me everyday!
I think I am finally ready to begin his memory book. I have been dying to make one that included stories, pictures and just memories. I want to read this to Oliver and even though he didn't meet my dad in the flesh (i know my dad personally helped God create him for me) I want him to still know all about his grandpa and how much my dad does love him, just from afar.
(I forgot to mention the master bath toilet flushed on its own Wednesday night... well I don't think it flushed on its own!)

Hit by Cupid's Arrow
This year I am totally into this holiday.. which I know is lame but I love a reason to celebrate, something to get excited about! I've been in the spirit all February and with Daniel's birthday just a week and a half ago I decided to celebrate all February.. While I now see that is probably more work than I meant to take on.. it was fun while it lasted. I tried to do something sweet and out of the ordinary for Daniel to know how much i love him each and every day. It sounds simple but I am on the verge of a promotion for an already very creative job so being overly creative at home daily, plus taking care of a toddler and working out like crazy, it A LOT. Like I said, it was fun while it lasted and I hope I showed Daniel a thing or two about how much I love him.
Back to Valentine's Day... I planned our evening this year and racked my brain to figure out the perfect thing to do. And i did... While a night out on the town being wined and dined would have been lovely, I opted for a surprise evening at home. I didn't tell Daniel a thing. i made him get sort of dressed up, we took Oliver over to his parents and then i told him we were coming home for a bit to hang out until our reservations a little later on. While we were out, i had my mom come set the table and make it look all romantic. I had steaks already marinating and potatoes and salad for sides. It was soo nice talking and eating dinner alone together (we didn't even turn on the tv, lol). We also watched Dinner for Schmucks, which was a funny movie. I got Daniel a Braves shirt, some boxers, candy and I made him a mix CD of songs I know he currently likes. I have one more surprise that I didn't finish yet but I will this week and give it to him late, its nothing big. I love that I surprised Daniel! I am not good at keeping surprises but this was soo fun!
Oliver had a good Valentine's day too. I got him the cutest shirt that said he gets his good looks from his daddy, which is more than true since he is a replica of Daniel. I got to come home from work early and got to spend more quality time with him!! It was a gorgeous day here so we got to play outside which was a blast. I ran him up and down the driveway in his Little Tykes car, which was a great workout (and much needed since I ate pounds of Reeses!). Oliver got to spend time with both his grandparents as well, in the morning Daniel went golfing so my mom watched Oliver.
Tonight was Daniel and I's 8th Valentine's Day and I feel it will be a very memorable one.

Frustration
i am soo happy that oliver is now walking but I dont think i am as happy as he is. Last weekend, Oliver threw about 6 or 7 HUGE temper tantrums. I have seen little ones now and then but wow!! I couldnt tell what was going on with him and honestly it was really hard to handle. He really only did them around me so I was blaming myself and wondering what i did wrong. It was beyond a nightmare. We even began giving him time outs. He had like 3 of them last monday evening before we finally we just put him bed at 7pm.
So on Tuesday, I was going to be alone with him and i braced for a horrible day. In the morning we ran some errands and then he napped and when he got up was when we played and he started walking.
We haven't seen a temper tantrum since!! I honestly think he wanted to walk on his own so bad but was nervous! Since he started walking he has been back to his old self. He goes into other rooms alone and plays more independently and just seems happier. in the past few weeks he had become very attached to my hip.
I am beyond proud of my little boy and although I had become frustrated with him walking later than most, I think it worked out well this way. He stayed little just a while longer.

Walking
Oliver is a little behind the curve on the walking.. He is currently 14 months old and really has no interest in walking... well by himself that is. Oliver constantly wants to walk holding someones hand and you better bet you go in the direction he wants you to. (He is real good at the finger point and grunt) Daniel and I continue to make predictions about when he will walk on his own and so far those dates have come and gone... A few weeks ago, the new prediction was Daniel's birthday.. well the week of, there was no signs that he would miraculously take more than his normal 1-3 steps without freaking out and falling. And thats fine... as much as we want him to walk, we are also very aware of what challenges that will bring.
I got home from work on Friday (Daniels b-day) and hurried to pick up Oliver being kind of quick with my mom as she had plans that night and so did we. But I totally stopped when she told me that he took at least 10 steps!!! OMG.. We are totally going to count that as an additional present for Dada.. my mom felt awful that we didn't get to see but honestly, that whole anticipation and excitement has come and gone so we were just happy that there was progress! And on Daniels birthday.
Well the weekend went on as normal... actually not so normal, but this post is not about that. At Gigi and Gpaw's on Sunday night, he took about 10 steps to get to me and everyone witnessed it!! YAY... And the past two days he has seemed more confident about his four steps and he has been standing alot more.
Just a few minutes ago, I was playing with him in the kitchen and I took him and put him arms length away and made him walk to me. The first time he did it, I was holding his hands and when he got to me, I made a HUGE deal. Grabbed him, shook him (for fun), showered him with kisses and cheered. Then I continued to do this without holding hands... then I did it and kept moving back... THEN, I grabbed the camera and put it on the trashcan and videoed it.... then grandma stopped by and she played and I got even more video. It went on for like 30 mins... Then we had a snack and he needed to nap cause were going to the gym in an hour.
i think the thing that I did different was when he went to get down to crawl to me, i picked him up and made him stand... i had tried this before but he would scream.. i think the confidence I have noticed the past few days plus the playful mood he was in was a good combination for it to work AND the fact that the camera was there!!
I haven't mentioned anything to Daniel but can't wait to show him tonight.. I just hope he continues to do this when he wakes up!!
ok, now the sadness is starting to set in.... he is getting so big!!

CRAAZZZYYY WEEK!
Wow... I am stunned by what this week has had in store for us. Although... a good friend texted me in the middle of the night while at the ER about to get surgery for her appendix after having a stressful day as it was the anniversary of a very close loved one... So maybe its something in the air?? But it did make my week seem a little less stressful.. See i told you she is a good friend!
So here's whats been going on....
Weather - The weather this week has been insane all over the country. This past weekend it was like 75 degrees.. and you better believe we were pretty much outside ALL weekend. I had the windows open in the house and car and we even slept one night with the bedroom windows open... Truly A-mazing.. Daniel got to golf with friends.. I took Oliver and Georgia on walks,,, we went to the playground and even to Suwanee Town park.. which was soo fun and i hope to do a lot more in the spring. Laura and I and the kiddos went to the park and brought a ball, some bubbles, chairs and a blanket and spread it out... We also picked up ENORMOUS smoothies (i wish i took a picture of the size of these things) and just hung out.. It was a fabulous afternoon for sure... Now after that happened, the entire rest of the country pretty much got hit with massive artic cold blasts, snow, ice, blizzards.. Crazy crazy weather... I heard about Chicago and they got hit hard... 70 mile an hour winds with snow... Then in the Northeast, roofs are caving in all over the place since this is like the 10th snow storm this winter and it was a rain and snow mix so the snow absorbs the rain and just makes it soo heavy. Now since Tuesday, it has pretty much been a cold rain here. We have had a few bouts of sun but still cold, cold,cold... I thought the fabulous weather of last weekend would hold me over til Spring but now i feel like it was just a tease.
CHOKING- I had THE most terrifying thing happen to us on Tuesday.. There is no way you can feel the power and fear in my voice as i tell this story since I am writing it but wow... On Tuesday, afternoon/evening Oliver and I were at home and he was having a snack while I did some dishes. I gave him a few wheat thins, which he has had successfully plenty of times before despite only having two teeth.. Then all of a sudden, I looked at him in his high chair and he was just sitting there looking paniced with his mouth just open.. I ran over, grabbed him out of the highchair and flipped him over on my knee and pounded on his poor little back.. Nothing.. no sound, no coughing, no crying even though I just practically punched my son... I flipped him over on my other knee, did the finger sweep and i could feel the darn thing but couldn't get it... tried the back blows again (I remembered CPR FLAWLESSLY!!) and repeated.. Still nothing!!! I then threw him on the floor and tried to get it out and still couldn't but i could feel it... My entire hand up to my wrist is in his mouth, I tried to break it up and nothing.. Just as I was grabbing my phone to dial 911 - I was of course home alone-I was able to push it a little bit (which now scares the crap out of me cause that was probably not the right thing to do and could have made the situation worse) but somehow that part of his esophagus was able to grab it and start forcing it down.. he started to cough and i could here it being gulped down.. I got him his milk to sooth his throat and picked him up and held him so tightly... My adrenaline was PUMPING.. I know how why people can lift cars off of people or do insane things with adrenaline. I paced around a little bit and Oliver was breathing but was soo quite.. very unlike Oliver... so i took him in the bathroom and sat him on the counter with our toothbrushes and he started to brush his teeth, this is his FAVORITE thing to do so when I saw this I was soo relieved and was about to loose it. I called Daniel and couldn't even mutter two words before I started bawling.. and then Oliver started bawling... the only other time his cry was that comforting was his very first one when he was born... Daniel made me feel better but my heart was still pounding and I couldn't sit still.. I finally calmed down about an hour later and Oliver's voice was very raspy but he was fine.. especially since I was giving him ice cream, yogurt and a popsicle.. haha... I don't think I can EVER look at another wheat thin and to be honest... I haven't had an appetite since. At the time I wanted to cancel my girls night out plans... Laura and I went to Masterpiece Mixers.. but now I see that was probably the best thing for me... Painting was relaxing and soothing... well as soothing as it could be with my type a personality wanting perfection.. the wine, never tasted soo good and being in the company of such a great friend was EXACTLY what I needed.. I bet Oliver needed a break from me too, since I just assaulted him.
Preschool- So between a sickbaby toddler, the nightmare of choking, a sleepless night and an overworked brain.... I forgot to register him for preschool in the fall... I quickly called and the class I wanted him for was filled.. I DID however (trying to be positive about this) get him the #1 spot on the wait list and I got him enrolled for one of the days I wanted. I know that in the grand scheme of Oliver's life this is soo unimportant and he will most likely get in.. i still was soo incredibly disappointed in myself! I cant type about it anymore... Sorry son!
The car incident!! - Kind of going out of order here but Monday of this week... we were planning on going to a casting.. it was all the way in Marietta at 9am with Atl. traffic, I was dreading it all night Sunday.. I was really on the fence about it too... Oliver did GREAT at modeling before he was mobile, but since then it seems to be more of an annoyance to him to get him to sit still and look at the camera when he wants to GO and play with all the other babies there. But I wanted to do one last casting to just make sure.. So I got up at 6am.. we got ready and were out the door by 7... and then we sat on 85 for an hour only to go about 20 miles... and Oliver was soo fussy! I had taken away his paci over the weekend and I thought he just wanted that so I gave it to him so he could go to sleep (he still uses it for sleeping) and he was trying so hard to fall asleep.. I keep trying different things, since we were NOT moving and then he threw up everywhere and a lot and all over the place.. I quickly tried to get across 4 lanes of stopped traffic, then off the exit and found a hotel parking lot (in not the best neighborhood) and jumped in the back to care for him.. he had now fallen asleep... I got him out, tried to clean up with five million wipes .... stripped him down and then drove back home... Poor guy... the rest of the day he was ok.. still acted a little sick and then that night the cold came in. So I think its safe to say we are done with modeling with that particular agent and company... I am pretty sure we are done completely as well.. Time to focus on other things.. perhaps walking?
ok.. this is way longer than i wanted, even though more crazyness happened.. you get the idea!!

Happy Birthday Dada!!
How did this happen? In just a few hours Daniel is turning 29.. The last year of his twenties!! If this is flying by this fast, I know I will never get a hold on Oliver growing so fast.
I met Daniel, for real when he had just turned 21 and I was 20. We had both went to the same highschool, he worked at the pharmacy that my family used and we had even run into each other at a persons house probably this same month 8 years ago.
(I dont think i have ever posted our story so if you already know it, this blog entry isnt for you.... if this is future Oliver and siblings, sorry kids but your going to have to listen to it again... and probably have to look through a scrapbook or two)
But we really met when Daniels friend Nick medeled and approached my dad about Daniel.. My dad was extremely friendly witheveryone Nick and Daniel and they always chatted. I dont remember (and dont feel like getting up to check) how they got on the subject but Nick told my dad that Daniel had been interested in me. My dad already loved Daniel so he brought me home Daniels phone number and told me to call him.... Seriously!! I already thought Daniel was the hottest guy, i had always made sure I wore the cutest outfits when picking up prescriptions and when I got a horrible stomach bug I insisted my mom let me fill the prescription at a totally different pharmacy. But now, it seems Daniel was thinking the same thoughts!! He has told me stories that he would make perverted comments when I would come in with my cute outfits (tight white jeans) on and even more perverted ones when I would pick up my birth control... (sorry kids)
Well i took the number.. thought long and hard of what to do and immediately drove up to Eckerd to discuss this with Nick.. To be honest, i was making sure it all checked out. So when it did, i did the "cool" thing and waited a few days and made the call.
We talked on the phone a few days in a row, we hung out in a group one night and scheduled our first date for that Saturday. Our first date was honestly just ok... I mean, we both love it now but looking back... it wasn't one of those swept away magical evenings... We went to dinner at a Japanese steakhouse where Daniel talked to everyone at the table and apparently says I didn't talk at all... which I'm sure sometimes now he misses dates like that.... and i thought he ate weird... i cant describe it... after dinner we didn't have anything really planned. We drove up to a little race car place to watch amateur race car drivers compete but it was ending when we got there.... then we went to Starship.. yes the ADULT store.. I guess we passed it and it was new in our town and I hadn't been so we went... haha... we were going to go back to his house but when we got there, he decided he didn't want to be there anymore cause there were too many people there (he lived in a bachelor pad at his childhood home with friends)..... Ive always wondered who was actually there that night, he will never tell me the truth I'm sure. lol.... so we went and rented The Ring and went to my house and watched it... Daniel will never let me live down the fact that I feel asleep during the movie.. Haha.
The next few months were a whirlwind.. We went on our next date pretty much the next weekend and then date after date continued to follow. We took a little trip to Chattanooga at the beginning of June and became official boyfriend and girlfriend. In October, I was pretty much living with Daniel and in December we said I love you for the first time. The second year was as magical as the first (minus the normal hiccups in relationships) and we decided to move to Myrtle Beach for 16 months while Daniel went to school. We moved July 15, 2005 and were on our very own. This was the first time we had lived absolutely alone (back home Daniels friends lived with us) and we didn't even know a soul in Myrtle Beach. It was amazing, growing and bonding in that sort of way. We eventually made friends that are now just like a second family to us. Myrtle Beach really set the tone for our current relationship. i am not doing a good job of explaining what is that I'm thinking but it was just the perfect building block for our now marriage. We moved back to Georgia in December of '06 and moved in the bonus room at Daniels parents. We started in our current fields and reconnected with our old friends. In August of 2007 on a vacation to Myrtle Beach, Daniel proposed and I accepted (OF COURSE!!!). We got married on April 19th, 2008... 5 years to the day from that very first date I described above. We found out we were pregnant on April Fools Day in 2009... that brings us to the start of this blog. I'm sure ill do an entry or two more about our dating life/engagement stories but I am diverting from the title of this blog.
Happy Birthday Dada.. I (and Oliver, and Georgia) LOVE you more and more as our journey together continues. You were absolutely meant for me and complete me better that I can even complete myself. You are the bestest friend I have ever had and you absolutely mean the world to me. I stride every day to be a good wife to you and show you only about 1% of what I feel for you.
I could go on but I'm sure my readers are nauseous by now.. you get the point!
