4am

It is 4am and i am wide awake... i seem to be in the some kind of pre active labor stage or maybe not at all.. well maybe... let me back track a little bit

The past few days i have noticed my braxton hicks contractions getting stronger. i read some (ok a million) things on this to try and see what it meant.. i came up with pretty much the conclusion that labor and delivery is coming soon.. great.. i kind of knew that regardless.... so moving on... i am getting stuff done but not too much cause i have a plan of when everything will EVENTUALLY (i hate that word) get completed... During this time Daniel comes down with bronchitis!! so he willing goes to the doctor and we get medicine and have a big talk with Oliver to stay put for a while... moving on again...

Today i get up and go for my 37 week appointment.. I'm driving in the car and notice that some of my contractions are starting from the back and i know that i read SOMEWHERE that that means something.. but what... so i figure the doctor will tell me... At my appointment they "check" me again and still nothing.. not dilating at all... all of these practice braxton hicks contractions and nothing... so now i have a different take on Oliver's personality.. he is LAZY, just like his mommy and daddy!! well i didn't know just yet how lazy he really is or how offended he must be that i said that...

so the doctor wants to do a non stress test and hook me up to the monitor... in cases like these where contractions are often and getting stronger but no dilating or effacing there is a higher risk of c-section so they just wanted to see what the contractions and his movements concluded... so i get hooked up to the machine for 10 mins... i have several small contractions (i can now compare and call them small) and nothing... baby boy is out!!! so the nurse comes in reads the report.. leaves... comes back in with pot lids, leans over my belly and starts banging them together.... well Oliver is not asleep any longer... the boy woke up and flipped out.. so then we see on the machine he begins to respond to the contractions by moving around some...

so we go in for a biophysical profile.. which is an ultrasound where they do a bunch of measuring or something.. i do not quite know what they do cause i just stare at my baby on the tv... anyways... he passed both of those.. i get another picture and book it out of there cause Oliver and I are starving after that almost 2 hour visit.... which we were of course alone at...

so i go on about my day still having these "intense" contractions... i go run errands with my mom, attempt to do some scrapbooking i have all over the house, watch some tv and just enjoy my last day of my 3 days off... daniel comes home and we go to the mall with some returns and the opportunity for me to walk some more to get things started... by this point i am noticing a little something different...

the contractions i have been having are soo much more intense.. they feel just like the ones i was having when we went to the hospital... they are in my back wrapping around my stomach, murdering my hips and omg.. they hurt.. this being said i will say that i USUALLY have a high tolerance for pain!!! so walking is good.. we come home, eat and the contractions are getting worse and even have a rhythm to them.. every 20-30 mins..i call laura because i do not have the patience to weed out all the search engine findings or flip through a book.. she tells me about the 411 rule... 4 mins apart, lasting for a minute for 1 hour... mine are currently (well this is about 8pm) 25 mins apart, lasting about 30 seconds... so i try to move on.. daniel draws me a candlelight bath.. yes read that sentence again cause it soo happened... daniel draws me a candlelight bath and i try to relax and the bath was nice.. i call out to him each time i have a contraction so he can keep time...

well its now 4am... the contractions are getting stronger and are about 15 mins apart... i just took a shower cause i wanted the hot water on me and while i was in there i lost something.... (this is where if your a mom or a dad you know what i lost... if your not... its better off you dont know).... so now im wide awake... i read through everything and it says this could mean labor will start in 24 hours or may still be weeks away... but it definitely means i have started to dilate...

i dont know what i am going to do about work tomorrow.. i know i cannot work or even drive with these contractions the way they are.. i would like to go see the doctor because if labor is still weeks away how am i going to do this for weeks? all i know is that it is 4am.. i want to bake some cupcakes but dont want to make a mess.. i am not waking daniel cause for the first time in days he is sleeping peacefully... i should really clean up or learn how to use my new camera or do something productive..

i think i will start with fixing my hair... just incase labor starts i will look nice!!!

Ollie Update

My sweet precious little bundle of joy is nothing but a TEASE!!! Yes i am calling out my unborn child... This little critter has done nothing for the past like 4 months or so but be a bigger baby and have the doctors talk on and on about how he is going to probably come early and yadda yadda yadda!! Well little prince Oliver seems to like to throw a curve ball, which will make his daddy very happy it has devastated me!!! I'm being only half serious... i am not devastated because i know how wonderful (and none the less, flattering) it is that he is happy and snug in his little home.. not to mention healthy and safe... but i was so excited about not having to wait 3 dreaded more weeks... and by dreaded i mean long!

So we went to the doctor yesterday for our ultrasound. They were going to check his size and everything and give us an estimate on when they thought Oliver would be coming and if they wanted to look into options of induction or c section based on how he was growing. So we go to the doctor.. which they CHECK me at each week now... (if you don't know, don't ask)... the doctor is a little concerned with my high blood pressure and swelling and we also talk about how noticeable the change in Oliver's movements have been.. (all check out fine)...we head into the ultrasound which was a blurry mess (poor d could hardly make out a thing on it)... she takes all types of measurements and we see him with his hands in front of his face yet again! Every ultrasound except the first he has had his hands in front of his face and this time he had like his arm covering his eyes so we couldn't even get a good pic!!! (this better not be forecasting his behavior for future photo sessions!)... She also shows me how he is laying which was exactly how i thought cause we can feel like his butt and back and feet a foot popping out every now and then... I was curious cause in all the week by week pics they show the baby in the belly with his spine facing outward (like where i look forward) but we usually feel Oliver's back pointing toward my left.. which is where it was yesterday... She also showed me where the top of his head was and i know i had been feeling him move in that exact location but he seriously is LOW! whew!

Anyways... so then she tells us his weight and he is just a little guys weighing 5 pounds 15 ounces... i know 15 ounces means he is just about 6 pounds BUT here is the curve ball... the books (i know, i know they are only an estimate) say they should weight about 6 and a half pounds by week 37 and we are at week 36 and 4 days... and last time the book said how much he "should" weigh and the doctor told us how much he did weigh he was above that by like a pound..... AND... Elizabeth correct me if i am wrong... but i think Cooper was born right at 37 weeks and weighed 7 pounds and i think 6 ounces!! And did you see my bump compared to hers a few months back...

So all i can conclude is that Oliver is not going to be a procrastinator like his mommy and daddy.. he got all big and strong early on cause he knew it had to get done and now he is just sitting back relaxing.. laughing at his mommy and daddy for rushing to finish the nursery and get all his necessities at the last minute...

Anyways.. to my little bugger... you take all the time you need...well up to December 11th, ok ill give you til the 13th.. but you cant come on the 12th cause that is Aunt Dani's birthday... and you cant come later than the 13th cause your insane parents are hosting a Christmas party hopefully that following weekend... (i digress).... although i am soo excited to get you here and kiss those HUGE lips i saw on the ultrasound yesterday i want you to be a healthy healthy baby. And besides you need to give mommy and daddy a lesson on procrastination cause honestly we have just a "few" last minute strings to tie up here! Love you buddy!!

OK now I'm crying so I'm done!!

Pics from Man Day

Man Day

Daniel is an amazing husband.. He is going to be (if not already)a fabulous daddy... He is a great friend, my biggest supporter, a dedicated and hard worker, a loving son and so much more. I knew that before Oliver got here i wanted to do something nice for him just to show how much i appreciate everything he does and just a nice gesture for the amazing person i think he is.

I tell him often in all kinds of ways the corny stuff i think about... i know guys dont care about all that but how can it not be awesome for someone to tell you the great stuff they think of you... I try my best to take care of him by keeping the house stocked of his daily essentials (shampoo, soap, vitamins, coke zero, cookies)... i make an effort to keep his love tank full by speaking his love language which is acts of service... so in the mornings if it will make him have a better day i will take those 5 minutes and iron for him... I complement him often on how handsome he looks (that is an easy one)... and i hopefully do alot more to show him i love him.

but i am getting off track here... i planned a man day for daniel somewhat behind his back... I talked to all of his friends, got the date picked out, booked some tee times and with a colaboration of his friends ideas we planned a round of golf, a cornhole, and ping pong tournament for them to do... I told Daniel about it after most of the details were finalized and everyone was committed. It was soo fun telling him. I sat him down on the couch, turned off the tv (which is a big deal at our house) and told him i went behind his back and did something.. haha... i then told him all the details and let him read all the email convo's i had with everyone during the 3 or 4 LONG days of keeping a secret from him.. He was soo surprised!!

So man day finally comes and honestly daniel had a pretty sweet gig this whole weekend... On friday we had a date night where we went to a celebrity (sort of) charity softball game at Georgia Tech (which was alot of fun)... he worked for a few hours on Saturday and then went to Athens for the UGA game Saturday night and then on Sunday he had man day.. oh and not to mention today he is playing golf at work....

Well anyways... i dont know too many details to report on for what they did on man day all i know is this:
-no one wore sunscreen
-lots of beer was consumed
-lots of food was consumed
-nothing was broken
-minor carpet stains
-i believe lots of inside jokes were made
-i didnt properly record the falcons game
-everyone seemed very happy
-a few had a rough day
-Paul C and CJ won beer olympics
-lots of thank you's came my way
-there is a ton of grass all over our home

I am really glad that the guys came together and got a day to just be guys together... I really want everyone to know that i didnt come up with this idea cause daniels life is ending or that no one will ever see him again or anything like that... in my mind our lives are going to stay as recongizable as possible... and i want him to have guys days like this as often as he can.. (cause i want girls days, nights, weekends too!)... i really just planned it cause i truely love my husband and he has the most amazing friends (i view them like brothers to him) and i know how happy each one of those guys makes daniel... after all the long days at work with golf tournaments, the long days off that daniel spent painting, or building furniture or going to doctors appointments, i just wanted to give him an escape, a break from everything and i wanted him to have that without an ounce of guilt that i know he sometimes feels when he needs a break from life stresses... who wouldnt want to give that to someone they love and i knew his friends could do the job better than anything else out there... so anyways... that was man day, described by a woman... haha...

oh and here are the fabulous pictures that daniel took of the day.... at least he humored me and brought the camera and even took a picture.. or 2.. haha :)

ok nevermind.. i left the camera in the car so ill post them later. :)

Lately...

(another one i just found from a draft... no reason not to post it... )

I may have used this title before but i figured if i didnt remember that no one else would either...

I have had alot going on in my little mind lately... nothing new or out of the ordinary since my mind is usually always running with random thoughts. I actually really like this about myself, well most of the time. I generally consider myself to be very opinated on things that are important to me and honestly there isnt much that is that important to me so many people may not know what a passionate opinatated person i am...

Well i thought today i would list out the things on my mind "lately" and then kind of discuss them.. This is probably not the most exciting of blogs but i feel it will be very theraputic.

My life - how did i get here? i ask this question in a good way... it still seems like yesterday i was that little girl dating, and not dating my high school sweetheart and wondering if there was anything else out there. And then that anything else was there right in the living room to be exact. True and amazing story and when daniel and i reminisced about this story the other night in a crowded living room it still brought tears to my eyes (another not out of the ordinary aspect of my life)... I discussed months ago about these flashbacks i have of the past 6 and a half years Daniel and i have been together and these flashbacks fly so quickly through my mind and i just want to grab them and pull them close to be and then i realize they are already here and im not going to loose them. I cannot believe the journey my life has been on since meeting my husband and i am in even more shock of where that journey is heading.

Motherhood - They are just going to let me take this little guy home? This question keeps plaging my mind... Seriously, god is basically saying to me that he trusts me with the most amazing gift.. and not just for a few hours at $12.00 an hour.. like for life... for the rest of my life i am now Oliver's mom. I am responsible for this person. I am going to teach him about the world, how to be a good person, how to love another person and how to ride a bike. I dont need a degree for this? A licensce? Anything? Haha... i am joking.. well partially... I am not at all nervous about it just shocked and amazed that its really happening... some days i am surprised by the fact that we have kept our dog alive for 6 years....

my mom - i am amazed and excited and happy for her and her new journey and our new journey. I want to see her get the most out of life with her friends, family and of course me! I dont know what else i have been thinking about her "lately" but lately she has been on my mind alot.

Other "lately" thoughts...

- I am in love with my friendship life right now... i feel like i am strengthening relationships with people i want in my life and seeking out friendships that will be good for me and my future. The rest i dont care about anymore. I have an amazing best friend, great "sister in laws" a few who are extremely close to me and then my group, my 2nd family. the rest... im done... i have always heard that having a baby could make or break friendships and its not so much the baby but your priorities... i am not trying to sound smug or anything but my life has changed and i am really happy with where its ending up... or rather where its begining.

- cleaning - I need to figure out a way to keep my home up to my standards without ever killing myself to do so... once oliver comes i know that laundry and baseboards will not be a concern of mine but i would like to find a balance between spotless and just not doing things at all...

- working out- me and daniel had a fabulous conversation about getting into shape and becoming healthy... yes we have tried this before but maybe now (after Oliver is born) we will be mature enough to do this.

- happy - I am usually one to stress, worry and focus on negative.. it doesnt consume me but i do get concerned with the what if's or playing after work is done... lately i have seen myself evolve from that person and although i will still stress and worry i have been feeling on cloud 9 lately.. I am so lucky and so happy in life right now. I may have a ton of weight ahead of me to loose or a credit card balance that isnt as low as id like it but i am so completely happy and i know those things i want to fix will be fixed in no time when i put my mind to it. As for now my mind is focused on so much other stuff.
